‘Per molts anys’ is the project proposed by the artist Reyes Pe for the two fallas this year. A reflection around the passage of life, the celebration of everyday moments and death. A fact that unites us all and that should be discussed without taboos while we celebrate our birthdays.
Throughout the year this theme has been worked on with the commission distributing analog cameras to the falleros. For this reason, spontaneous and customary photographs of the birthdays of different people accompany this story of memories of life and collective celebration. An idea that is transferred to the llibret, where the photographs are revealed on photographic paper, as in the old albums. Analog photography forces you to look carefully and capture the most important memory, without filters, natural. Thus, thanks to the possibility of opening the spiral of the spine, the llibret can be personalized by each one and even incorporate their own developed photographs, since the negatives of their film are delivered to them.
On the other hand, and also in relation to the falla project, the llibret reproduces the colorimetry worked on and indicated by the artist herself: purple, red and white tones. A range that is even transferred to the colors of his papers, which give as an object a volume of colors identical to those of the piece on the street. In addition, the cover made with screen printing also contributes craftsmanship to this pastry festival, as does the binding process, which results in a colorful multicolored confetti to celebrate this festival of life. A whole fantastic set, with the purple spiral on the spine as the icing on the cake. This allows the change of papers in a simple and functional way, combining the red cardboard that separates the topics, the lavender colored paper for the texts and the photographic paper for the analog photos.
The interior editorial design is also coupled with the language used of soft geometries with curved and kind typographies of the falla. The movement of the indentations reflects the movement of the different levels of the cake, which is the main body of the falla, and the vertical marks of the pagination, like the tiles of cream that are falling, take different positions on each page. Everything moves, everything melts, everything is sweet and organic, everything is cake.
A llibret that not only wants to remember the falla of 2023, but also wants to keep all these valuable memories, putting life at the center, which only exists because death exists.
