Almudaina is a cultural space located at 9 Almudaina Street—a name consisting of nine letters.
The word Almudaina derives from the Andalusi Arabic al-mudayna (المُدَيْنة)—a diminutive of al-madīna—meaning small city or citadel. This evokes the idea of a protected enclosure, a community built around a shared inner flame. Based on this concept—balancing sanctuary and gathering—a visual identity was developed to explore the relationship between architecture, memory, and belonging.
The logo, created using a contemporary geometric typeface, introduces a break in the word by displacing the prefix "Al." This subtle gesture creates visual tension and suggests a sense of flight.
For the graphic design of posters, publications, and digital environments, the project takes the space’s own materiality and atmosphere as its starting point. Its pale blue walls—weathered by time and marked by stains and imperfections—serve as the conceptual and graphic foundation for the entire system. Furthermore, this shade of blue is a prominent feature in much Mediterranean Arab architecture and culture. The color palette is rounded out by a fuchsia pink—a color typically associated with the visual world of Versonautas—which acts as a vanishing point.
The editorial structure is flexible, responding to a six-month program organized into sequences of nine gatherings—reflecting the nine letters in the word Almudaina. This generates an alphanumeric code for each gathering, distributed freely across each poster like a constellation of stars. The result is a visual language that combines functional clarity with symbolic resonance, creating a recognizable image capable of growth, transformation, and adaptation to various contexts.
