The commission consists of an interior design project for the renovation of the showroom of the Las Naves Cultural Innovation Center, with the aim of transforming this space into a meeting and gathering area linked to the building's main entrance. Given the proximity to the beach and the high influx of international visitors, the aim is to create a welcoming, representative, and easily identifiable atmosphere with the Mediterranean environment.
The main element is a large, curved bench that fits into the walls, which are facades and open onto the entrance window. The section of this piece is developed on three levels with an organic geometry that favors diverse uses and appropriations: meeting, working, resting, or waiting. Its stepped dune-like profile, along with the reflections of natural light on the curved wooden surfaces, contribute to the effect of the waves' footprints in the beach sand at sunset. This detail is emphasized by the wooden edges of these surfaces, like small wavy lines that run through the space. The furniture also incorporates planters under the windows.
The design is completed by removing the existing cladding, revealing the building's original brick architecture. These masonry textures are finished with a neutral gray palette, as requested by the center, which facilitates their integration into the building's architectural language and helps highlight the Duna bench as the main element of the project. The fittings include an acoustic ceiling, warm, suspended spherical lights at different heights, and electrical outlets.
